Grants for International Projects
I often get asked about funding for projects outside of the USA. Since my focus has been conservation projects within the United States, I haven't done much research on funding sources beyond my own country. That being said, here are a few of the international programs I've come across. Don't forget to try
Foundation Center. A significant number of philanthropy organizations in the USA also fund international projects.
TIP: Partnership development is critical in obtaining a grant for an international project. Find a partner and be a partner.

- US Fish & Wildlfie Service International Affairs
- Covers grant programs for Multinational Species Conservation Funds, and Wildlife Without Borders.
- World Wildlife Fund
- Numerous programs around the world to conserve wildlife and habitat.
- Fauna & Flora International
- Fauna & Flora International is the world's longest established conservation society. We work to conserve threatened species worldwide, choosing solutions that are sustainable, based on sound science and take account of human needs.
- Wildlife Conservation Network
- Wildlife Conservation Network (WCN) believes the best way to save endangered animals is to support conservation entrepreneurs who work in cooperation with local communities. We identify best-in-field conservationists and give them the capital and tools they need to create sustainable futures for imperiled wildlife and the habitats in which they live.
- International Assso. for Bear Research
- BA Research and Conservation Grants (RCG) are awarded to help support bear conservation, education projects, and research. Emphasis is given to projects that demonstrate significant positive effects for bear species, populations, and areas of the world with the highest conservation needs.
- Earthwatch
- Earthwatch will consider research proposals from science based projects that seek to address cultural and/or biodiversity conservation issues.
- Safari Club International Foundation
- Safari Club International Foundation (SCIF) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that funds and manages worldwide programs dedicated to wildlife conservation, outdoor education and humanitarian services. Safari Club International is a leader in protecting the freedom to hunt and in promoting wildlife conservation worldwide.
- International Wildlife Coalition
- Founded in 1984, the Coalition is dedicated to public education, research, rescue, rehabilitation, litigation, legislation and international treaty negotiations concerning global wildlife and natural habitat protection issues.
- Conservation International
- We manage an array of mechanisms to directly finance conservation efforts by our field programs and partners in ways that benefit nature and people alike.
- NOAA International Coral Grant Program
- An opportunity for funding of international coral reef projects is now available through NOAA's Coral Reef Conservation Grant Program.
- African Development Foundation
- USADF helps African businesses and community-based organizations build bridges to opportunity and economic security.
- American Himalayan Foundation
- AHF brings health care, education, and environmental conservation to the Sherpas of Everest.
- Australian Charities
- Gateway for information on major Australian charities.
