Grants for the Environment
Environment is a very broad term. Practically any project relating to conservation will address 'environmental' issues. Consequently you'll need to read each grantor's Request for Proposal (RFP) very closely to determine a funder's actual priorities.
Terminology changes over time. Today's environmental project is tomorrows ecology project and next month's watershed project. You need to keep up with the latest buzzwords as reviewers may be looking for such cutting edge vocabulary in your proposal.
If there are public meetings with agencies on any particular environmental topic, be sure to attend. You may make contacts that will be useful in building support for your project.
TIP: Keep a file folder filled with news clippings of both your organization and your project area. This can help build support documentation.
Sampling of Funding Sources:
- Toyota Environmental Activities Grant Program
- In addition to the traditional category of general grants, a new category named small-scale grants was established this year with simpler application and contract procedures, with a view to expand the program to reach more of society and to encourage more applications from small organizations and groups, under the theme of "Environmental Technology and Human Resource Development Contributing to Environmental Revitalization and Conservation".

- The foundation's mission is to assist in the nation's transition to a sustainable energy future by promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy. The foundation has a budget of $ 11.7 million per year.
